JOEY DANIEL

Joey Daniel’s career can be summed up as nothing less than a well-deserved rise to fame. The Rotterdam-born Amsterdam resident has been making waves through the Dutch dance scene for nearly a decade now. He has become a key figure in Dutch nightlife and a trusted provider of acclaimed sets, having played nearly every club and festival imaginable. Joey is a charismatic artist who possesses pulsating techno of an eloquent groove and active basslines, and that is the reason why he has become one of the most exciting figures and a revelation not only on the summer nights in Ibiza, but on the European scene and beyond. Joey Daniel is without doubt a name that has grown both quickly and constantly on the international electronic music scene. His early beginnings are known to many of his close friends and loyal fans: putting his skill to the test at Rotterdam’s famous warehouse parties. Joey Daniel would later be adopted by one of Holland’s most forefront nightclubs, Toffler, where he became resident and also hosted his own monthly party, 300MPH, welcoming artists such as Loco Dice, Martin Buttrich, tINI, Guti, and his dear friends Pan-Pot. Subsequently, and with the hunger to conquer Amsterdam, he gave life to the DSTRCT parties that the crowds in the Dutch capital immediately absorbed, the warehouse-themed night sold-out in its first-ever edition. His tireless search for musical expression led him in 2012 to launch his first production work. “You Know My Streez” dropped on Material and it was an instant hit, reaching the top 10 Beatport charts as it was extensively supported by none other than Loco Dice. From then on, Joey's productivity in the studio came naturally: “Pantys All Over The Place” released on Memoria, “Crossing Borders” included on the Summer Sampler compilation for the label NoExcuse, in addition to co-productions with his good friend Rub A Dub: “Jungle Stabbin” on a Various Artists EP on D-Floor Wake Up Call EP on Innocent Music (numbers 2 and 3 on Beatport’s Minimal chart, respectively) and “PMP 67 Original Mix” on Moan Records. These were followed by other great works like “Drop That Beat Joey Daniel Remix” en SK Recordings and “Is That Jackson original mix” in collaboration with Zlatnichi and included on Moon Harbor’s Orbiter I. Out next on Moan Recordings is his remix of Astin’s original track Salamandra. In terms of live performances, 2015 was Joey’s international breakthrough year as he took the leap that every DJ secretly dreams of: that of taking an active role on the acclaimed Ibiza scene. It was also the moment when 10 years worth of gigs, both in his home country and abroad, experience in curating and hosting top-quality events and an ever-growing appetite for the studio, served as a preamble to bring his music to some of the most emblematic stages on the scene. Joey is recognized for his great performances at Music On, SunWaves in Romania (where he gave a legendary 11-hour closing set), Sonus Festival in Croatia, WAN Festival in Madrid, BPM in Mexico, Pollerwiesen Festival in Germany, Extrema Outdoor in Belgium and Awakenings, Time Warp Holland, Mysteryland, Welcome To The Future and Loveland in his beloved Holland. With regard to clubs, Joey has has featured as a special guest at Watergate Berlin, Row14 Barcelona, La Feria Chile, Club4 Barcelona, Amnesia, Space and Pacha Ibiza, Mandarino Italy and Kristal Glam Club Bucharest, to name a few. “I’m a sucker for the low-end, dubby tech spectrum of dance music. That’s why bass always plays a key role in my sets,” Joey says of his musical tastes. Joey has the special ability to combine an infectious presence on stage, great emotion and skill as a DJ, to which he adds driving percussions, especially the subtle hi-hat and snare elements. Joey is a true connoisseur when it comes to taking complete control of a crowd, a skill he showcases in his acclaimed lengthy sessions. In 2015 Joey joined Music On, with his first gig at Amnesia, followed by The BPM Festival in Mexico. For him, 2016 was the opportunity to keep showing people what he is made of: talent, vigor, music and life. As a member of the Music On family, in 2016 he continued as a Music On resident at Amnesia, sharing the stage with Paco Osuna, Stacey Pullen, Neverdogs and Marco Carola himself, among many others. He also played an active role in the Music On days at Cova Santa and the Music On Radio Show on Ibiza Global Radio during the summer of 2016, later becoming a resident for the It's All About The Music events, alongside Leon and Neverdogs. At the start of 2017, he has continued traveling with Music On to events around the world. This January, he performed in the “Music On Jungle” and “It's All About The Music” events at The BPM Festival; and in May he will take part in the family’s first massive outdoor event: Music On Festival in Amsterdam. Joey’s involvement in Music On is now stronger than ever. His firm and precise musical rhetoric, coupled with his strength and vitality, have made him an artist capable of bringing any crowd to a sonic frenzy, and it therefore seems certain that the most exciting episodes in Joey Daniel's career are yet to be written.
